Simplicity is a Superpower

A Human Design reflection on Gate 23, expression, and the wisdom of saying less. In Gene Keys, this energy moves from the shadow of complexity to the gift of simplicity, to the siddhi of quintessence.

✧ Saying Less, to Communicate More. ✧

Gate 23 – The Gate of Assimilation
Gene Key 23 – Complexity → Simplicity → Quintessence

We live in a world that worships complexity,
all while desperately longing for simplicity.

Where saying more, doing more, and knowing more is often mistaken for depth.
We chase clarity through mental effort, over-explaining, and layering on more.

But Gate 23 invites you to move differently.

It carries the frequency of distillation—of transforming deep, lived experience into clear, simple truth.
It’s not shallow.
It’s not reductive.
It’s what remains after the excess falls away.

Gate 23 is the voice of inner transformation that longs to be expressed—not to perform, or to prove, but because something has become clear IN you.
And when it’s time, you don’t need many words.
You just need the right ones.

✧ A Moment I’ll Never Forget

Over 20 years ago (how?!), I was on an Outward Bound trip in Costa Rica.
We had been hiking for 12, maybe 13 hours—through rainforest, humidity, and mud. It was one of those soul-level exertions where time disappears and you have no choice but to be in a meditative state, because in order to take the next step, all you can do is to focus on the. next. step.

Eventually, after what felt like forever, we reached the summit.
I was one of the first to arrive—just me and our guide, Jose.

We stood at the peak in silence, overlooking something vast and impossible to describe.
And then, after a long pause, Jose looked out over the landscape and said:

“It’s good.”

That was it.
Fat Costa-Rican accent.
The most simple words
And somehow, it was the most perfect thing he could’ve said.

In fact, if he’d said more, it might have ruined it.

Because the moment couldn’t be narrated into words.
It needed to be felt.
And his words honored the presence & potency of that moment.

When I’m tempted to over-explain, I try to recall the beauty in the simplicity of his words.
When I try to prove the depth of something by adding more to it, I aim to remember Jose’s simplicity.
What’s truest is often the simplest.

✧ What Simplicity Actually Offers

Simplicity isn’t emptiness.
It’s precision. It’s the courage to say only what’s true and let that be enough.

If you carry the energy of Gate 23, or you’re feeling it in transit, you may notice a longing to express something deeply personal, but struggle to find the “right” way to say it.
You might find yourself explaining, repeating, or overcompensating to make sure others get it.

But here’s what this gate teaches you:
You don’t need to overcomplicate your knowing with extra words, to make it land.
You don’t need to repeat yourself to be valid.
Your inner clarity is powerful when it’s shared from presence—not pressure.

✧ Let This Land

✨ Simplicity is a form of mastery.
✨ The most catalytic expressions are often the quietest.
✨ You don’t need to say more to mean more.
✨ Let what’s real be spoken without performance.
✨ Let your truth come forward with space around it.

Because when you trust your expression, it becomes transmission.
Not from cleverness.
But from precision.

Say less.
Let it land.
Trust what’s meant to be, WILL be received.

Flow Field Notes & Musings

☁️ Mantra that’s working

“Let it be simple.”

I can be one to overcomplicate.
To dwell on details.
To pour full buckets of energy into things that only needed a scoop.

But this week, I’ve been retraining my brain with that simple phrase:
Let it be simple.

It doesn’t mean careless.
It doesn’t mean lazy.
It means trusting that the essence is enough.

🛒 Energetic maintenance—for under $10

Self-care is commercialized.
With that, it can cost a fortune.

I bring financial harmony (if this isn’t yet a phrase, let’s make it one. ha) to my routine with a few epic, inexpensive Trader Joe’s finds that I love:

– Lavender Salt Scrub
– Coconut Hair Mask
– Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum

Low cost, high vibe. Simple.
