Not all listening is the same.
Some listen to respond.
Some listen to fix.
Some listen to defend.
But real listening?
That’s something deeper.
We’re in the energy of the 13th Gene Key—know as the Gate of the Listener in Human Design.
This energy invites you to hear beyond the noise.
To listen with more than just your ears.
To listen with your entire being.
The shadow of this energy is discord.
It’s when your mind gets stuck in:
❌ How do I make sure I don’t lose what I love?
❌ How do I know I’m making the right choice?
❌ How can I guarantee security?
Discord is what you experience when you listen through the filter of fear.
But when you step into the gift of this energy, discernment, you shift.
You stop listening through fear and start listening through trust.
🔹 Trust that life is unfolding FOR YOU.
🔹 Trust that you already have the answers.
🔹 Trust that the most important messages often aren’t the loudest—they’re hidden in the form of your quiet knowing.
Discernment means listening beyond the words.
It means hearing what’s coming through—not just what you want to hear.
Because when you're attached to a certain outcome,
you're not really listening...
you're waiting for confirmation.
The deepest listening happens when you let go.
When you stop needing an answer to validate a predetermined story, belief or desire.
When you soften your grip on certainty.
When you trust the quiet knowing inside you.
Life is always speaking.
The question is—are you able to get out of your own way in order to truly listen?
My Musings
What I’m listening to:
Last month, I took a trip to Tulum with some dear friends from my Tea community. The trip was remarkable, a private residence and impeccable private beach, Tea, laughter, ceremony, and celebration. The thing that was most memorable though… it was THE SILENCE. There were several moments where our group of 8 women fell into spontaneous silence. It was in these moments of silence, that the magic we were experiencing-deepened into a cellular understanding. This morning, a friend from that Tulum trip, circulated this 3 minute remembering of the potency of silence and true listening, The Unspeakable Truth. So far, I have listened 13 times and counting.
Current “WOO” practice:
Hopefully this has already crossed the line from ‘woo’ to mainstream for many of you, but this is your invitation to SIT IN SILENCE. 5 min (minimum), every single day.
Being in silence is how you begin to witness your thoughts.
And, witnessing your thoughts is ‘Step 1’ to changing your life.
Current “WELL” practice:
I-Spa, a local Korean Spa, is one of my favorite ways to spend a random weekday night. The scrub is so healthy for your skin in the winter, exfoliating every spec of dead, dry skin away. Bring the Korean Spa home with you, through these Korean scrub mitts. It’s $4.50 for 6 of them, and they are ah-mazing. Scrub in a circular motion. Your skin will thank you.
